2nd Thrust – Cost Efficiency & Effectiveness

  • Wrote DOTC Usec. Elena Bautista on the current issues in the maritime industry with regards to the shortage of bottoms and containers and unchecked rate increases (RA 1&2) and trade terms and solicited help to put some order in the industry & safeguard public interest.
  • Release advisory to all members regarding the status of domestic shipping and     SCMAP stand on Recovery Adjustment (RA 1&2).
  • Conducted mini survey from amongst member companies on RORO, Shipping Rate & Trucking Fuel Recovery.  Provided inputs to the government to help improve RORO service availability and quality.
  • Joined the DOTC Inter-agency Group meeting for the development and implementation of RORO under AO 123
  • Submitted  comments to MARINA on RA9295 IRR amendments with regards to:

-    Ship owners to fix own rates
-    Notice on Rate Adjustment

  • Rationalized North Harbor containerized trucking rate & postpone its rate increase.

  • Updates on hijacking incidents in the Philippines which serve as eye opener for member companies.
  • Continued opposition to liners onerous unilateral rate increases of 20% GRI, 6% GRI & 7.5% GRI.
  • Filing of DMAP’s comments on DSA’s petition for cargo reclassification.

3rd FOCUS – COLLABORATIVE ALLIANCE
Secure strategic relationships with partners to create mutual benefit, maintain competitive advantage and build on strengths, in order to carry on quality of service to our customers.

  • Initiation of joint collaborative meetings with shipping lines which aimed to identify areas where DMAP and the shipping lines can work together to achieve effective distribution of products in the Philippines.
  • Continuous active participation in meetings with the Coalition for Shipping and Ports Modernization and PCCI.
